Expanded Risk Assessment Service

Applications are open for the Business Preparedness and Resiliency Program (BPREP) Expanded Risk Assessment Service.

If your business location is in an area at risk of flooding and/or you have sustained damage as a result of Hurricanes Sandy and/or Ida, or recent natural flood events, you may be eligible for an on-site, one-on-one risk assessment. This service helps small business owners to be better equipped to identify risks and handle future threats while staying focused on their overall goal - increased revenue and growth.

Our experts will review your physical location, business operations, and insurance needs to provide you with personalized recommendations to help reduce the risk to your business and/or property in the case of disruptive events and economic shocks.

Participants for the program will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the order in which complete applications have been submitted.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will this cost me?

There is no cost to the applicant.

I am interested in the Expanded Risk Assessment Service. How does the process work?

The first step is to submit an application. You can apply online here.

Your application will be reviewed to determine eligibility. If eligible, a program representative will contact you to schedule the on-site risk assessment at your place of business. After the assessment, the team will provide you with a report that includes recommendations on how to improve the resiliency of your business and thrive long-term.

What is the deadline for applications?

The program is first-come, first-served for businesses that meet the criteria. SBS will continue to process applications until the funding has been exhausted.

How long does the process take?

You will know whether you are eligible for an on-site assessment within three (3) business days of the receipt of your complete application. If you are eligible, we will contact you within one (1) business day of your approval to schedule the risk assessment at your convenience. The assessment itself will take roughly two (2) hours. After the initial visit, the assessment team will create a customized report and determine which resiliency measures they recommend. The team will schedule a follow-up to discuss the report and guide you through made recommendations.

What does the team do when they come out for the risk assessment?

Our team of experts will interview you and assess your physical space, operations, and insurance coverage to determine what vulnerabilities you may face in a disaster and what could be done to be better prepared and lessen your risks.

What do I need to prepare for the assessment?

We recommend that you gather insurance documents and a copy of your lease. Additionally, if you have already done any emergency planning or business continuity planning, you should have those documents at hand to share them with the assessment team.

We also recommend that the owner be present at the assessment, along with any key operations personnel that they would like to include and who might be helpful in describing the business operations to the assessment team as they walk through the premises.

What is the best way to contact you?
