People that provide information or help for mortgage loans in New York State need this license. Mortgage Loan Originators are licensed by the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS).
Applicants must be employed by a licensed mortgage banker or broker. A person who takes customer information and refers customers to other employees does not need this license. License holders can only work for one business.
