Emergency Medical Technicians can receive a Basic certification to practice in New York State. The certification is from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).
Basic EMTs must know basic life support equipment and techniques, such as CPR and defibrillators. They must know how to perform basic services, such as wound treatment and emergency childbirth.
Applicants must meet educational requirements and pass an exam.
